A Night At The Roxbury Motel Part 2 | Big King Theme Rooms

Earlier this week we gave you a tour of Fred’s Bed-rockin’ Lair, grooved right on through the Mod Pod Room, stopped off at Golightly-a-go-go for some breakfast,  harmonized our way through the Partridge nest, and finished atop Samatha’s Cloud… what could be next?! How about a full-on upgrade to a tour of The Roxbury Motel’s Big King Theme Rooms.

Tony's Dancefloor (Room #19)

"Do a little dance, make a little love, get down tonight, get down tonight." If you love the nightlife and are down to boogie all night, Tony’s Dancefloor is the perfect room for you! Make sure you pack your white suit and gold chains and invite all your silk-shirted friends because this is the perfect room to party like it’s 1979! This room comes complete with a wall that lights up like a dance floor, an enormous swirling disco ball, and even slammin’ disco wallpaper. Of course, our favorite part is the gigantic bathroom that is covered in our disco ball inspired mirror glass tiles, starting with the vanity and ending with the 85 gallon 2-person tub!

Angel Hair Room (Room #20)

The Angel Hair room is packed with color, action, and 1970’s fashion. Although it may sound sweet, this room’s action-packed design really kicks butt. Inspired by the original Charle's Angels (the one with Farrah, Jaclyn and Kate), this colorful room gives a new meaning to girl power. Our Susan Jablon orange, green, and blue Bijou glass tiles cover this rebellious â€œgirls with guns” bathroom while still giving just the right amount of feminine touch.

The Wizards Emeralds (Room #21)

Follow the yellow brick road? Follow the yellow brick road! Follow, follow, follow, follow... oh well, you know the rest. Our Bijou yellow glass tiles begin the yellow brick road as soon as you (aka Dorothy) take a ruby shoed step into this Emerald City bedroom designed for no one other than the Wizard of Oz himself! That is not the only place you'll find our tile. If you can make it past the poppy covered bathroom without falling into a deep sleep, you can enjoy a luxurious bath in the extra large Emerald-green sparkling glass tile tub!

Maria's Curtains (Room #26)

The hills may be alive with the sound of music, but this room is certainly meant for your optical senses! If you have never seen The Sound of Music, or don't know that Julie Andrews played Maria, it might take a little imagination to make the connection between this room and the movie. Almost every item in the Maria's Curtains room uses the fabric or pattern of the curtains that Maria used to make the children's play clothes. Based on that, and the fact that this pattern is just so darn pretty, the Roxbury’s owners just had to create this brilliant textile room! Now, this is where Susan Jablon comes in! A one-of-a-kind bedroom must have a one-of-a-kind bathroom and, staying true to theme, that is exactly what we designed. Relax in amazement in this Austrian curtain-inspired glass tile bathroom composed of thousands of tiny 10mm glass tiles (the size of your baby fingernail!) in Maria's curtain pattern. I believe that, if Maria ever saw this bathroom, it would make the top of the list of her favorite things!

Maryann's Coconut Cream Pie (Room #27)

All of us 90's babies are familiar with Gilligan’s Island (even if only through TVLand reruns). Stranded on a tropical island after their “three hour tour” on the S.S. Minnow ran into some rough waters, the Skipper, Gilligan and the rest were somehow able to make all sorts of things out of the only thing that seemed to grow there: coconuts. I’m pretty sure that somewhere along the line, Ginger or Maryann cooked up a nice coconut cream pie. In any event, the Roxbury really went all out with this one. Beginning with the mouth watering whipped cream dollops covering the ceiling, melting right to the playful yet appetizing cream puff throw pillows, and ending with our absolute favorite, the "creamy coconuty beigey butterscotchy vanilla puddingy" recycled glass tile bathroom. Yes, not only is our ORGANIKS tile extremely appetizing, but it's also eco-friendly!
