"Bijou" is French for "jewel" -- because that was Susan's first thought when she first saw these beautiful tiles. Bijou glass tiles are hand cut float glass. They are hand painted with china colorant on the back of the glass, which is then kiln fired. This gives this glass tile an exterior and interior surface rating. Kiln firing gives the glass tile edges a softly slumped and rounded edge. The exterior of the glass is clear -- you look into it to see the color inside the glass itself. The back of the tile is sealed so you do not see through the tile but rather into it. It is a beautiful tile that is suitable for pools and spas, walls and floors as well as bathrooms, kitchen backsplashes, fireplace surrounds and building exteriors.
